Advancing manufacturing excellence through EU projects & initiatives

EIT Manufacturing is driving the advancement of the European manufacturing sector by actively engaging in strategic EU initiatives and projects. Through key funding programmess such as Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Programme, and Erasmus+, we drive collaboration to address the challenges of green and digital transitions, while reinforcing the resilience of Europe’s manufacturing ecosystem.

EIT Manufacturing is involved in over 40 projects through EU and regional funding programmes, attracting more than EUR 20 million to support transformative initiatives. These projects bring together large corporations, academic institutions, research and technological organizations, startups, scaleups and SMEs. 

EIT Manufacturing’s key contributions to EU programmes: 

  • Strengthening the European manufacturing ecosystem: Coordinating efforts to foster cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange among diverse stakeholders. 
  • Managing cascade funding: Facilitating access to funding for startups and scaleups with innovative solutions while supporting SMEs to navigate the twin green and digital transition. 
  • Empowering the workforce: Delivering tailored training for skilling, upskilling, and reskilling through the EIT Manufacturing Academy. 
  • Enhancing sustainability and innovation: Supporting the adoption of green manufacturing practices, promoting circular economy principles and aligning solutions with the European Green Deal. 
  • Accelerating innovation readiness: Conducting market analysis, developing business models, and offering mentoring to help innovative solutions reach market readiness.

  • Driving technical advancements: Leading role in surveys for enhancement of technical specifications by involving different industrial sectors  that can ensure cross-sectorial contribution to technical EU projects.

  • Promoting dissemination, communication and exploitation: Ensuring project outcomes reach the European manufacturing community, fostering widespread adoption of innovations, while leveraging the AGORA as a central platform for knowledge sharing, stakeholder engagement and networking.
